I've been scammed by someone claiming to be from three. I received a call offering me a slightly reduced monthly price for 12 months because I've been a long time customer. I wasn't particularly bothered by the reduced price but I went along with it, they wanted to send me a free gift as a thank you aswell. They already knew my address, email address account number and sort code. And they sent me a code that they needed but this came in the form of a Microsoft password reset email which I of course found odd. I didn't give them the code but they text me a one time pass code, which I later see three would never ask for. I gave him bank information as I has received a text and email which came on the same text thread as the genuine three messages so I assumed was genuine. I don't understand how they make an email or text come from the exact same email, that's what made me think it was genuine. When googling the number it turns out to be a butcher shop. I froze my card before they could take any money.

Assuming you did not hand over the full debit card number, please keep an eye on your bank direct debits. That is the worst damage Fraudsters could impersonate you to subscribe to services with direct debit with the bank account/sortcode number, as those number will remain the same even if they issue a new debit card. The direct debit comes with guarantee, so you are covered, as long as you spot it and bring it to attention.

Unfortunately I did give them my card number but I soon realised my mistake and froze my card, I've now been issued a new card. I think what they did (as the knew my email address) is just click the forgot password link and it sends a genuine email, I think its ways like that where I got what seemed like genuine emails. I should have spotted the signs but is too easy to get caught out.
