My caller display shows a business name. I want it to show my own name. How to change?

When I call someone else who I have not previously called, they see the name of a business with which I have an association. Previously, it used to show the name of my rugby club, where I was a club official for many years. I have never elected to have either of those names displayed. I guess it's because my number has appeared as contact number on those websites. But what can I do to change this? There must be a way but 3 says that they have no control over the matter. Elsehwere, I have seen the following:

The name displayed to people you call is managed by the carrier's CNAM database, not your phone's settings.

But 3 say that they have no control. Any ideas ?

Google's records will be the cause.

Hi there @RoisterDoister,

This does sound unusual, but I understand that measures tied to spam and security show caller IDs based on associated records that exist.

I have looked into this, and this isn't something that can be controlled by Three and is managed by Google's database.

Google collect and control this information, not Three. They also collect it directly from users as well (via the dialler) and of course the scammers are playing around with records too! For example, if you call Ofcom - 020 7981 3040 the dialler says "Zetland FM"

I could try and fix it by clicking "Improve caller ID" but personally think Ofcom should be doing their job and getting Google to fix the problem, not only for themselves but for the rest of us as well! I think it's data being scraped off the page - https://www.zetlandfm.co.uk/statutory-information/public-file and Google then "matching" it to the business/radio station, just like how they are doing with your number at the Rugby club and probably also your number must be published on a website somewhere linking your business association to the number

Do a search for your number on Google and that will be where the information is being gathered from.
