One time while overseas in Austria my roaming data suddenly ended. It was the middle of PAYG month and only part way through the fair usage amount I purchased.

I contacted customer service and received several different answers from several different people. I was pretty much told the roaming period corresponded to 30 days on from one of the following:

A. Original Three account sign up (years before)

B. 1st day of the calendar month

C. Date the data pack was purchased.

D. The first date I started using roaming.

All potentially different periods. I made a complaint and was offered £30 for being messed about. 2 years on I realise I still don't know when roaming period will expire. This time live chat told me it would depend how much data I bought!

Does anyone really know?

Still nothing. Not only do Three not understand but Three officials don't even bother commenting. I will be making another complaint.

Hi @Kastner,

On PAYG inclusive roaming is related to your Data Pack allowances, and you can purchase a Data Add On if you run out of data before the Data Pack has expired. You can find info on all the packs, add ons, and related inclusive allowances on this page about PAYG Roaming.

We used to have a 12GB per month fair use limit for PAYG which refreshed based on the activation date of the SIM (e.g a SIM activated on the 1st will always refresh on 1st of each month), but this hasn't applied since September 2024 unless you've rolling over an auto renew pack since before then.

If I'm following correctly then the original situation you've described was 2 years ago? Assuming that was before September 2024 option A in your original post would apply, but unless you've been continuously been auto-renewing a Data Pack since then, you should be on the newer system and can refer to the "inclusive roaming allowances" in the page I've linked above.
