Leaving Three - PAC text issues

Hello!

I have reached the end of my contract and have decided to leave Three, mainly due to the poor signal I was receiving.

I would like to keep my number and understand I need a PAC code. I have followed the FAQ and sent a text with “PAC DDMMYY” to 75075.

The response I have received is:

Almost there! We'll send you your switching information. We just need the word STAC and the account holder's date of birth in the format DDMMYY to 75075

I have then followed the above. Is this correct though? I thought a STAC code is essentially you cancelling your old number (which both Three and my new provider seem to mention on their websites) - I would very much like to transfer this over.

I would be very grateful for any advice in what I should be doing next! (Especially with getting the actual PAC code!)

The number to text to obtain a PAC code is 65075! You won’t be asked any questions. A PAC will be supplied by text almost immediately. This will allow you to keep your number.

Ignore any other text code.

It looks like I used the wrong number then! I’ve just tried the above with the correct number however have received a response saying I already have an active STAC.

Do I need to cancel the STAC to get the PAC? Sorry for the trouble and thank you in advance!

In a word yes because they are two different things. If you haven’t given the STAC to your new provider then do nothing with it. Then if you can’t get a PAC for the reason you mentioned then call customer service to get the STAC cancelled.

Hi @aob101,

That's right there can only be one PAC/STAC active for a phone number at any one time. Customer services can cancel this STAC, then either generate a PAC for you, or you should be able to use the text method again.
