Hello there.

As far as I know, there isn't any access point isolation in place by default on the Hub. Local devices should be able to talk to each other. I'd recommend factory resetting the Hub to see what that does, and if that doesn't help fix it, I'd recommend reaching out to the Support Team for more advice.

I've recently joined Three Broadband with a 5G E5-250MA router. I've found that LAN-to-LAN communications appear disabled, and this is a hindrance to my setup at home.

I do not see any settings on the router admin page to disable AP/client isolation or anything related to disabling LAN-to-LAN communication.

For example, I have a media server which I would access over SSH. However, on the E5-250MA router, it times out. Both my devices are connected and access the internet, but I cannot access the devices locally.

Is there any way to enable LAN-to-LAN communication on the router?

Furthermore, I pressed the Update button to see if it had any updates, but this says to go to a non-existent page: "Advanced -> Update". There is no update option under any of the menus.

I've also tried connecting the router to the Three android app to see if there were any options there, but it is stuck on "Connecting to your Hub" and never gets any further than that.

I assume the router. I didn't set up anything else to handle DHCP requests.

Sorry if I misunderstood, but I thought something like this should have been plug-and-play (or connect-and-play in this case)

A factory reset did not resolve this but I decided to not dig into it further because it seems like the firmware is simplified on the E5-250MA router. Instead I got a TP-Link router that I've connected the WAN port to the Three broadband hub and that is working flawlessly for my setup now, and I have finer control of my network.

Yes, it normally is, but having another router or other network equipment like a wifi extender can sometimes have another DHCP installed which could cause what you are seeing.

When you SSH into the media server, is it via DNS (ie ssh mediaserver.lan or mediaserver.local) or directly to IP (ie ssh 192.168.1.56)

I have exactly the same problem as the previous poster with my new Three E5-250ma router. I have just done some extensive testing in which I tried to ping between two wireless devices (computer and phone) connected to the router on the same Wi-Fi band (both 5Gz) and it failed because they could not discover each other. However I could ping each device individually from within the router's web admin interface. So I believe that with this router AP Isolation (Client Isolation, or Wireless Isolation) is enabled by default (even when the guest network is turned off) and cannot be changed by the user. This seems like a crazy idea to me given that plenty of people now have wireless devices in their homes that need to communicate with each other, IoTs, etc such as Wi-Fi enabled printers and computers, controlling home heating with phone apps via Wi-Fi, etc. At least I have found out what the issue is, as it's been bugging me since the 5G/4G Hub E5-250MA hub arrived 4 days ago. I chatted with someone from the Three support Team yesterday about this but I do not think they fully grasped the problem — all my wireless devices can connect to the router and use the internet, but they cannot communicate with each other over the LAN. Does anybody here have a solution as I cannot find any way to configure and disable AP, client or wireless isolation on this hub.

I got the same E5-250MA a few days back. None of my IoT devices can talk to each other. I've logged into the hub and navigated everywhere searching for AP/Client Isolation settings but found none. It would be nice if the team could quickly work on it and roll out a firmware update. I currently do not need a router, but I'll now be forced to get one. The E5-250MA Hub appears to be kind of buggy; thus, one would expect that such a feature would exist. Having to purchase another device to fill the gap isn't ideal. Overall, the service is cool.

You might care to take a look at that content — Three support have admitted that there is an issue with this hub but have still have not resolved it (despite telling me that they had). Sorry to hear that you hare having the same problems with this E5-250 MA hub.

See my post called "Communication between LAN devices appears to be blocked"
