I can promise you, VDSL will seem like luxury once you're on this network.
To be honest, being stabbed in the face with a rusty fork is better than being on Three.

Avoid at all costs.

I have a Three mobile SIM at the moment, and noticed the other day that I can get an amazing 1.2Gbps download speed on my phone. My VDSL home broadband isn't great, and 1.2Gbps would be a massive improvement, so I was looking into switching to Three's 5G home broadband.

I was speaking with them, and the sales lady stated that I would only get 150Mbps from the 5G router.

I strongly doubt this, and I feel she's just reading the same info I am off the website (which isn't very helpful!)

Does anyone with a 5G home router know if I will ACTUALLY be capped at 150Mbps? Coz that sounds like nonsense to me. Why would I get a different download speed?

Thanks

Phones require less bandwidth to operate than broadband. This means that more 5g phones are allowed to register on a cell than broadband users. Limits are put on so that a reasonable speed is available otherwise contention ratios come into play. I do not if it is the router or the sim that tells the cell that it's a broadband connection. What speeds you would get if you put an unlimited phone sim into a broadband router would depend on which talks to the cell. If it's the sim then it should be possible for those who get 5g phone but not broadband to buy a router and stick in a phone sim.

Someone must have tried?

I get that homes consume more data than a single moble, on average. But to cap a 1.2Gbps connection to 150Mbps is a massive deal breaker for me.

I am not above buying a moble SIM and my own 5G router if it gives me the higher speed! Would be an interesting experiment, but getting hold of a 5G router just for testing would be interesting...

I have fttp and a second company has just run their own fibre cable to my village. This means price competition and I expect several 100's of Meg for less money when I renew. My fttp has been totally reliable so I would not consider mobile broadband at any price.
