Hi guys

Just got a new Pixel phone with Three and am a burgeoning runner with a pixel watch for tracking my runs on Strava.

Love Three so far 😍

But... I am lost for words that a modern, customer led network like Three doesn't support Pixel watch connectivity!!!!!!!!!!!

The Pixel watch has some of the fastest sales growth on ver the past year... Please, please, please get make this happen Three!

Can anyone at Three give any idea if/when this will be coming?

Thanks 🙏

Welcome to the Three Community.

Thanks so much for the feedback, I'll be highlighting this to the relevant teams.

We've launched support for Apple watch pairing last year, and recently started to roll out Samsung watch support, and we don't plan to stop there, we're looking into expanding our support to more smartwatch brands.

I'm sorry that we can't answer any if/when questions about Pixel watches at the current moment. I'm happy to confirm that supporting Pixel watch pairing is something we're exploring right now though. Thanks for your patience, and we'll definitely be talking about this on our website and the community if and when we do have news to share about this.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Any updates on Pixel Watch support? Just got a new Pixel Watch 2 LTE and was excited to connect it to my account but sad to see/read that there isn't any support. I guess I'll just have to sit in the Pixel Watch waiting room like a lot of other customers 😞

You can pair a Pixel Watch with any compatible phone over Bluetooth, but we don't currently support cellular pairing with these.

You don't need your phone SIM to be an eSIM to pair a watch, the eSIM for a cellular watch is built in, and if we begin to support these then you would set up cellular pairing using the Google Watch app.

I'm sorry that we don't have this functionality yet, there's a lot that needs to happen behind the scenes before a smartwatch brand can be supported on the network.

This is far from acceptable for an answer. There are posts that are over a year old asking the same question when Google introduced the Pixel 7 range and the Google Pixel watch.

The reply then is 'Three is currently working on it '. But all they seem to care about are their Apple and Samsung products. Isn't it about time Three came clean and admit only EE & Vodafone have an upfront agreement to provide LTE support for Google devices only. If this is not the case, then Three need to employ the correct technical experience to get this working.

Just be honest with us and give us the real reason why Three cannot provide cellular connectivity between devices, or what plans are they are putting in place to actually provide updates with timescales of when it can be in a position in rolling this out, and if they need beta testers I would happily sign up.

Please stop fobbing us off with same generic excuse you have been using for over a year now, and ensure this post is actually escalated up to Three Management and not just have a community moderator reply.

Thank you.

I do appreciate your frustration that we don't support cellular pairing on the Pixel Watch series yet. As I've mentioned previously, we're looking into it but we don't have updates to share.

Please bear in mind that this is not a fault or issue with a service that we do advertise, we've been asked an honest question on the community, if we know if/when Pixel watches will be supported, and we've given as much info as we can share here, supporting Pixel watch is on our future plans, but it's too soon to give any timescales or further confirmations.

We've never advertised that we support Smartwatch pairing for any other brand than Apple or Samsung devices, but when I'm clear to discuss Pixel watch pairing further I'll do so.

Hi JJ,

It's like coming up to 5 months since the release of the Pixel 8 Pro and the Pixel watch 2, and they still haven't sorted out LTE pairing for the Google products. In fact this has been going on well over a year with the release of the Pixel 7 Pro and the first Pixel watch!

They either have a crappy development team who doesn't understand LTE Pairing, or more than likely only EE and Vodafone have the rights to offer it as an option.

My contract is coming to an end with Three soon, and I will probably jump ships to a company that can provide all the bells and whistles..

5 months from the initial post and still no update or reason why they cannot provide it!!

After waiting for what seemed an eternity for 3 to support E SIM, they seem to have sneakily added it to their repertoire without much notifications to those of us that have been waiting. Not to my knowledge at least. So I get myself all set up and switched to an E sim and I thought "great time to unlock the full features of my smart watch, the whole reason I bought into the ecosystem" only to find 3 doesn't support my watch.

This is really starting to annoy me, always behind the times playing catch-up. By the time 3 have sorted this they'll make a big ho-ha and expect a pat on the back but the tech will have moved on again leaving them in the dust and no more relevant than they currently are and us customer more and more frustrated. I remember when 3 was a forward thinking company, they seemed to be first to offer unlimited data plans back when mobiles finally broke away from WAP, instant messaging was popping up phones started becoming connected as we know it now. But today they're starting to look and feel like the grandparents of the mobile providers. Seriously 3 pick up your ideal get your finger on the pulse and at least try and be relevant because you're going to start losing a large portion of your customer base if you can't keep up with the tech. I heard a merger with Vodafone is on the horizon and if I'm honest that just worries me more. This company is becoming so antiquated they'll soon be selling dial up.

Actually there is a workaround for the lack of The LTE support.

If you have a Google Pixel 8 Pro and a Google Pixel watch 2, you can Purchase 2 x PAYE E-SIM, use one for you phone and other for watch and just use the Smart pairing add-on provided by the company you purchased the E-SIMs from.

You can use Bluetooth connectivity for main things and the LTE pairing for anything else. It hardly uses any LTE data so don't need to keep topping it up.

Moderator's get your fingers out and get the Three solution sorted ASAP as your in development excuses are pretty poor for someone that has been available for some time. If you are contractually not allowed to provide it to use, do the decent thing and tell us up front!

I have been having the same issue, and the best part of this is that three sold me, the pixel watch, with Esim pairing as a contract, but knew that it wouldn't work, so... How does that work, How can you advertise something that doesn't work and when I've called up, or been on live chat, not ONCE has a member of the CS or support team said that you don't support the pairing. Just that it will be fixed in 1-2 days, or 7-8 days. So when I finally gave up, I said well you can cancel my pairing then.. oh no, I've missed my cooling off period so now I have to keep paying.. JOKE

Hi @DavidNorbury89,

Sorry for any confusion here, this is a thread which started almost 2 years ago, and my post you've responded to was correct at the time of writing in November 2023 .

We have started supporting Pixel watches as of the Pixel Watch 3 releasing, you can read more on our Smartwatch pairing support page.

Sorry to hear there's been some issues with setting the service up. What model of phone and watch are you using? What error message or issues are you running into with the pairing?

Thanks,
Jonathan
