You can take a new contract with a mobile phone, and you can choose to pay for the device up front so that it doesn't have a monthly cost, however the plan you are on would need to be upgraded as part of the process, and would need to be a minimum of 12 months in most cases.&nbsp;</P> <P>The alternative would be to purchase a device outright from a local Three store without a contract at all.
