No; it won't work - been having this issue for 4 months now; Three are absolutely useless; their tech support is beyond a joke and I despise having to deal with tech support in India (this is not a race issue); but the lack of understanding how we speak; our grammar mannerisms and for the fact that they don't listen, they just read off a placard and then pass you from pillar to post

Why is there no one in the UK that we can deal with; that we can speak to properly and that will listen and understand this issue and how frustrating it is

I left EE to move back to Three due to EE's costs becoming plain stupid; not once did I have an issue with EE when I swapped from iOS To Android and back etc

Moved to Three; zero issues in that sense, but have not been able to move my AWU2 onto my Pay Monthly contract at all - but when I tried it with my Samsung Fold 6 and Watch Ultra - it did it there and then!

So what is it with iPhones and Apple Watches that Three seem to be able to mess up so easily?!

I do not want to change my number; I've had it nearly 20 years now! Nor should I have to

All in, it's an absolute pi$$ take 😡

Apple Watch mobile service error pairing.

So I accidentally unpaired my mobile plan from my Apple Watch series 10 through the watch app on my iPhone 16 because I noticed I had 5 inactive mobile data plans that appeared so of course I wanted to delete them to clean up. After deleting the 3rd inactive mobile plan it then disconnected my main plan for some reason or other.

when I went to try and pair my watch again I received an error message saying “ THERES A PROBLEM. Please note that you can’t progress to new subscription as you already have an existing one which is still in progress”.

So then I had been onto customer services to try and get this issue sorted, but they were telling me to try all the technical tips, Apple suggests and three suggests, everything other than being able to unpair the watch from the subscription.

Customer services then went on to tell me that I have to wait until my next billing cycle to be able to connect. This however did not work as my billing cycle started again today, so I told three back on the 30th April to cancel my contract for the smart watch pairing, and they told me that it takes 1 month to completely cancel the subscription. Can anyone confirm if this is true and that I have to now wait until 30th May? Otherwise I’m thinking of just cancelling my phone contract and getting a whole new contract so that I can just be able to connect the watch!

Sorry to hear about this situation. With the error you've been encountering above, my understanding is that you may need to wait till the next bill cycle starts, but it's always best to speak to the Tech teams to confirm, just in case they need to clear anything behind the scenes.

Did you speak to the team again since, and have they given any further advice?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan, they told me to reactivate my smart watch plan, but I'm still going to wit until the 30th to which then my plan is completely cancelled and hopefully I can resubscribe and pair again. Can you confirm if this will work? because I've seen you responding to numerous posts about this situation

Sorry I'm coming at this without having access to account notes. I'm aware of some issues in the past where waiting till the next bill cycle was the solution, but are you saying that the issue was escalated more recently and the team said you can go ahead and attempt to pair before then?

If you've been given an "all clear" then waiting might not make a difference. There's a few different errors and scenarios. I'd recommend to follow advice given by the technical teams, as not every case on the community is the same.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan

So after a month of waiting for my smart watch plan to finally cancel today, It will still not let me pair my apple watch with a new plan. I got in touch with three and they told me to turn my device off and on again and try pairing, still nothing. So they said it could take 24 hours after the cancellation for you to be able to pair, so they are going to give me a call back tomorrow.

Hi Pete

sorry for the late response. Yes even after the add on has been deleted after a month it’s still saying it exists. Three phoned me today and they told me that I might have to wait until tomorrow which is the bill date. But o have tried putting my mums SIM card in my phone and adding the mobile service and it works. Three are determined it’s got nothing to do with my number as when you add the add on it generates a number for the watch. But I’m not convinced

Alright, thanks for confirming. Is your mother on Three as well? If so, could you make sure that the pairing is removed from her SIM, and then try the pairing on your own SIM tomorrow morning. If it still doesn't work, send me a direct message letting me know, and let me know if the error remains the same or not.

Hi Pete

I never ended up pairing the mobile data with my mums SIM card. But when I did tap “mobile service” on the watch app. It didn’t come up with the error. It came up with a my3 sign in screen, but I didn’t proceed as that would attach a mobile plan to my mums SIM card. I genuinely think the only way around this is for me to have a new SIM card completely

Wanted to reply to this as I'm having very similar issues

I moved from an S25U and Galaxy Watch Ultra (bought outright from Samsung) to my current 16 Pro Max and Apple Watch Ultra 2 - called three to remove the Samsung pairing and was told I'll need to wait for the billing cycle to end, to allow me to pair my AWU2 to Three to have cellular connection

My billing cycle ended 25th May and since then I've got the same error message 'Sorry there is a problem - you cannot pair as there's already an active subscription' or something along those lines...

I've had call after call with Three about this and they've given me excuse after excuse, it'll take a week to investigate excuses also and it's still not working.

So my only thought is to cancel my current contract with them, get a new one and port my number across...

Does anyone know if this would work at all?

Sorry to hear this has been going on for so long now. Can you try clearing your Safari data, and resetting your Network settings and then retesting pairing.

You should find the relevant options in Settings > Safari > Clear History & Website data

and Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings

This will forget any saved Wi-Fi networks, and Bluetooth pairings, but it should also help fix any issues caused by cached settings which may be causing the issue.

If you're still seeing the same error afterwards please let me know.

Thanks,
Jonathan
