The option to order without an auto renew pack is there, might be a bit more difficult to spot though.

Try this link:

U.S.A. holiday

Hello,

Any help with navigating data for an upcoming U.S.A. holiday please! I’ve ruled out a ESIM, I really can’t follow the instructions. I’m away for 18 nights and the Three data add on to my account would cost me nearly £100, which seems very high compared to other options. I just don’t understand what I need.

Can I buy a Three PAYG sim, with go roam, and put it in an old phone? I can’t seem to find the answer on the website. Will it have enough data for 18 days and how do I stop it auto renewing every month? Also, will it be a physical sim?

Thank you

Hi @Pinkminnie29,

Yeah this could be a good solution for you. Just make sure to activate and top up the SIM before you leave the UK.

You can order a PAYG SIM here. Just look for the options to order a free SIM without a Data Pack if you don't want to look at the auto renew options. There are one off pack options, and you'll see each has a different amount of Go Roam data so you can figure out how much will be right for you.

Here's the page with all the data pack options both one off and auto renew: https://www.three.co.uk/pay-as-you-go/payg-data-packs

And yes good news, these are physical SIMs. eSIMs will start to become more common in the coming years, but they're not the default yet.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Thank you so much for a quick reply.
It does look like I need one of those. But every one is set to ‘auto renew’ or pay monthly. How do I get one that doesn’t do that? Thank you
