I received a call saying that a new sim is being dispatched to me because Three is experiencing issues and it will give me better cell service with the same package and number. They aren’t asking for bank details or anything but i’m still skeptical. they say it’s something going on for everyone.

Hi @Niamheee,

This does seem really suspicious. I'm not aware of any situation where we'd be calling you out of the blue to recommend a SIM swap. If you've disclosed a text message security code to the caller, have discussed personal details or have any other concerns that your account may have been accessed by a 3rd party, please get in touch as soon as possible.

The team should be able to confirm if we've genuinely been in touch about anything, and also raise an investigation into any potential fraud.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi just got a call regarding the on going issues with Three network. The women offered me the same package, keeping my number but I will have a new SIM card to use.
she was asking to verify my email and account… obviously I didn’t give her as I stated I will contact the network provider.
she said that: “mam” I am telling you I am calling you from 3!

Anyone else experiencing this please?
thank you

Good spot, that does seem like a scam caller, as I mentioned on my last post to this topic, I can't think of any reason we'd call out of the blue to arrange a SIM swap like this.

Yes, I have experienced this today and when they tried to send a passcode to my phone to ‘reset password’ for Microsoft and I challenged them saying I don’t want to accept this, they pleaded saying I needed to do this or my SIM card would be cut off by midnight tonight! I hung up and they have called me 6 times since! (Haven’t answered)

I contacted 3, they have confirmed that no calls have been made their end and that it is definitely a scam!

Just had the same call - apparently three has been experiencing loads of complaints with the existing SIM cards and the caller told me that tomorrow I’m going to get a parcel to be delivered by DPD which will have a new SIM card. I also asked the scammer how they have my address and they just said “we have your address ma’am, don’t worry” and then I said “great thanks” and then we hung up. Weirdest scam ever because they didn’t actually ask me for any personal information but also really obvious because they were just calling from a random landline and not from Three or even like an unknown number.

Hi @SG4,

That is really odd, perhaps they were initially just calling to confirm your number was on Three, so I'd recommend to keep an eye out for any further unusual calls. Our fraud to watch out for page has more advice about spam and scams, and how to to report them. I'd recommend to report this by sending CALL to 7726 regardless. When you send that message we'll reply asking for the number which rang you. You can also forward any spam/scam texts to 7726 too.

Thanks,
Jonathan
