Hi - are you using the google ‘message’ app as I found problems with the Samsung message app - Google app works better with duel sims.

Hope this helps

Dual sim intermittent problems

About three years ago, I began running dual sims in my phone because all networks have dead spots in the areas that I visit and I need to remain connected.

However, since then, my phone has intermittently not received messages until I open the messaging app, at which point a deluge of messages instantly arrive. Sometimes I also have missed calls.

In the last three years, I have tried two phones (Pixel 6a and Samsung A56) and both psim and esim from all four networks (Three, Voda, O2 and EE).

No matter which combination of phone, sim and esim I use, about once per month I get this message and call blackout. It's really annoying because sometimes people are trying to contact me urgently but the messages don't arrive and the phone calls don't ring. It's not a signal strength issue and it's not a local mast issue because sims on different networks using different masts will be affected simultaneously.

The problem has only happened when all the following apply:

1. Android 15 or 16.

2. The phone is using dual sim.

3. One of the sims is esim.

4. One of the sims is on 'Three' network.

Note that when all the above conditions are met, it's both active sims that go into a blackout, not just the 'Three' sim. Most recent was Friday morning last week when neither my 'Three' psim nor 'O2' esim were receiving messages until I opened the message app, at which point several messages to both sims arrived at the same time.

I don't really want to PAC/STAC the 'Three' sim because the service/price is acceptable, and because it might just have been bad luck that the 'Three' esim or psim was present when messages and calls were failing to arrive.

Can anyone make any suggestions as to what is going on?

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply.

The PIxel 6a would have been limited to using Google. On the Samsung A56, I'm also using Google.

I've continued doing experiments and I think the problem is one of the following:

1. esim + psim + Android 15/16 sometimes don't work together when certain conditions are triggered.

2. my 'Three' sim or the networking connected to it, has a fault/bug. The 'Three' sim was a psim, then I changed it to esim, then back to psim.

As a final test, I've put the 'Three' psim into the old Pixel and I've put a '1p/EE' psim into the Samsung, along with the O2 esim that's in the Samsung.

Whichever phone/sim combination misbehaves will give me the answer. If the Pixel/Three misbehaves, it's my Three sim that's the problem. If my Samsung misbehaves, it's esim + psim + Android 15/16 that's the problem.
