Go roam activates automatically without any chargeable event.

Hi,

So I am using my phone abroad in one the Go Roam Around the World destinations.

Every time I turn my phone on which is usually once a month I am getting charged the 5 pound a day fee ?

BUT I am making no chargeable event ?

Im using a eSim with iphone 15 pro and DATA ROAMING TURNED OFF.

I literally turn my phone on once or twice a month to receive sms ( for banking etc ).

I have now had to turn my spend cap to zero.

Also would it be cheaper and better to move to three pay as you go ? I literally only want to turn my phone on once a month to receive sms. I live 6 months abroad 6 months UK and travel back and forth.

Another question.....regarding Pay as you go.

Lets say I have a pay as you go sim and put 10 pound credit on it.

Will i be forced to take the go roam data add on? Does it apply automatically like it does on contract ? Or can I request it at will.

My overall objective is to be able to turn my phone on once a month to receive SMS and that's it. I then turn my phone off. I wish to pay only for what I use. Which as far as I have read should be free to receive SMS and calls whilst abroad. I never need data as I have that from my other sim!

Suggestions welcome.....
