Missed Payment and Damage to Credit File

Fikex
Fledgling

I have never missed a payment, Three didnt take the payment on time, just before Christmas, I have no idea why, as soon as I realised the payment was missed I contacted Three and the missed payment was paid. For context the missed payment was on the 8th November 2024 and I paid on the 20th November but now I have a late payment on my credit file.

This week we are just in the process of re-mortgaging and this is causing issues with the lender.

I have complained in December and Three see the error, but said it will take 30 days to look at making any correction. That still hasn't been done. Been with Three for years and this is the only missed payment.

Fuming at this......Companies just shouldn't be allowed to do this as someone sees fit without understanding whats happened..........Im struggling with the re-mortgage because of Three.

I’ve just had the same issue pop up again, 3 times they missed the payment to the point I was going to cancel, they then said it would be cleared. It has not been as has now popped up again whilst trying to sort a mortgage out, luckily it should effect the out come but was something we could have bone without! What was the end result with you? So I can see if they can repeat it for me as it’s still not sorted off my report!

Hi @Hammo,

If there's been an issue like a late/missed payment on your credit file the customer services can request for this to be amended. As long as there's evidence such as notes from when you spoke to customer services. The best thing to do is discuss this with the team and they can make sure it's investigated.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi @Fikex,

Did Three eventually update your credit file? They filed three false defaults on my fiancé's credit file too, right when we were purchasing our first home. He also received a similar text from Three in November. Reported the false defaults to Three in early January and Three only updated one month in April, only after disputing directly with the credit agencies. We are still waiting for the other two months to be updated.

Hi @Fikex,

I'm really sorry to hear this happened in spite of you getting in touch to pay as soon as you became aware of the missed payment. It sounds like the team have followed the correct process. I appreciate it's really frustrating to be advised a 30 day timescale under these circumstances. To my understanding, this is down to the way credit file reports are handled and produced as the reference agencies will update these once per month, so hopefully it won't take so long as this.

Have you received any update from the team in the meantime since posting? Just to clarify, was this 30 days advised back in December or more recently, if you haven't received any update within the expected timescale please let me know.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Let me see if I'm getting this straight, you have a Direct Debit with Three, for some reason the DD didn't take place on the 8th Nov. You realized the misshapp on the 20th Nov, you contacted Three? and did the payment. However because of the missed payment (and lets assume you had funds and was a "techincal glitch" from either Three or bank) Three reported you and your credit score was damaged.
Word of the day is "complaint", with Three and ombudsman.
