MAC IP addressing

I have purchased a wifi extender, and I was reading that I have to change my 3 broadband router to allow MAC IP addresses. So when I add the MAC Ip address that refers to the wifi extender my broadband switches off and I can't connect to the internet. I have to reset my router to factory settings to allow me to use broadband again however, I can't use the wifi extender and I need it, as I have a blind spot upstairs where my wifi signal drops.

Welcome to the Three Community. 

There usually isn't any requirement to change settings on the Hub in order to get a standard Wifi Extender to work. The MAC address is just a unique hardware address for your device, and as far as I know you don't need to add that to the Hub. 

If you set your Hub back to the way it was, or if you're struggling to get it working again, it might be best to factory reset the Hub to restore the default settings, then set up your Wifi extender using whichever application is supposed to configure it.
