My partner has been contacted on WhatsApp by an account claiming to be Three, the contact is displayed as "Three Services" complete with correct 3 logo.
The number used on Whatsapp is +44 **** *****
Can anyone confirm if this is a genuine Three contact on Whatsapp?
She has also been receiving phone calls from mobile numbers starting 07 and an email address which I'm certain is not genuine **************************************
Somehow a mobile phone order was added to her legitimate account which we have been able to cancel.
We are confused as to how a potential scammer was able to place a phone order on her legitimate Three account!?

Hello, those aren't legitimate contacts. It looks like a scammer who has simply set up a WhatsApp account using a 3 image for the logo, and choosing a name that looks like Three's.
Given that the scammer has contacted your partner through multiple contact options, it would indicate that they know more than just the phone number that belongs to her. They would need the password to access the account online, and would need access to the phone number or additional information about her in order to pass security to place an order.
If you haven't already, I'd recommend having the passwords to most of your services updated. I'd also look to put 2 factor authentication on any services that offer it. You should contact the support team and letting them know someone was and might still be trying to access your account. They can place an alert on the account.
It might be worth contacting your bank too, and letting them know what's going on. This will help them keep the accounts secure.

Thank you Pete, we have already alerted her bank and spoken to fraud dept there, cancelled her debit card and changed all details for online banking , changed her login details for Three and her email.
Trying to talk to Three about it was much more difficult, when she eventually managed to chat to someone online. She was able to cancel the active phone order on her account, but the guy seemed more interested in retaining her as a customer than worrying about the fraudulent activity, because as far as he could see it was her that contacted them and placed the phone order, which it wasn't. It was a Samsung Z fold phone and she is resolutely an Apple user!!
We just have no idea how the scammer got into the Three account and worried it could happen again!

I'm glad to hear you were able to get on top of it all so quickly before anything worse could happen.
