About a month ago i went into a Three store to confirm i was 18+ so i could get the adult content filter removed. I brought in a copy of my driver's licence for my ID, the women took my ID, scanned it in by taking a photo and then the filter was removed.
Fast forwards to now, the filter seemed to get switched back on, when i went to switch it back off it wanted me to verify again, i do not have a credit card so going into the store is my only option.
This has left me curious to whether Three stores that picture of your photo ID when you go to verify, or if they never keep it stored on their servers, because if they have then why does it want me to verify again?
EDIT: Forgot to add but i went over their privacy policy and could not find anything relating to storing Photo ID for Adult Content Filtering, hence why i'm asking here.

I have had the "Adult Filter" turn itself back on for no reason and without warning as well. Have often wondered why Three are doing this.
Given the amount of data breaches, hacks and just pure incompetence leading to the public release of ID's such a drivers licences, passports etc I do not and will not agree to any company taking a copy of my ID. I would be asking why the Three employee needed to take a "scan" of your ID in the first place! If I'm asked for ID in a pub, I show them my ID and that is the verification they need to serve me. I've never and hope to never see a pub take a "scan" of my ID.

Hello @User24,
Thanks for sharing this here, and it's a reasonable question to ask 🙂.
I can see that the Privacy Policy explains the basis for requesting a copy of your photo ID, but also that:
If you are applying for a device loan agreement, a copy of the ID may be stored to ensure we are meeting our legal and regulatory obligations.
Additionally, Data Protection principles stipulate that data must be used for specified, explicit purposes, used in a way that is adequate, relevant and limited to only what is necessary, and kept for no longer than is necessary.
It would suggest that copies of photo ID are otherwise not stored if used for amending the Adult Content Filter, and this would be why you're asked to provide it again during future requests, even if for the same thing.
Thanks,
Michael
