Pictures have power, there’s no doubt about it. And with tech advancements, most of us are now carrying around incredible cameras in our pockets. But what makes the difference between a stunning portrait or an overexposed selfie? Between an accurate action shot and a just-missed-it blur?

We’d love to hear your tips and tricks for getting the best shot so post them in the comments below. You can also include the snaps you’re most proud of to show off your efforts - we’ll moderate as quick as we can to approve the pictures. When we’re done, we should have a handy how-to guide and bonus community photo album.

In exchange, and to celebrate the newest additions to the Google Pixel family, we’ll give a brand-new Google Pixel 7 to one lucky commenter. With powerful Pixel Camera features like Real Tone and Cinematic Blur, the Google Pixel 7 is a photography powerhouse and we can’t wait to see the beautiful images it can capture.

**Prize draw now closed**

You’ll be automatically entered into our prize draw when you post a comment. The prize draw will close at 23:59 on 31 October 2022 and no comments will be counted after that. One winner will be randomly selected on 02 November 2022 from all eligible entries.

We’ll drop the winner a Private Message between 4 and 7 November and we’ll announce the winner by their username once they have accepted their prize, by updating this post. To ensure you receive notice of Private Messages, please verify your email address after registration. If you do not wish to enter this prize draw, do not comment on this thread

I would like to share my photos of my beautiful dog but not sure how to. My top tip is to have a gorgeous doggie and have your phone to hand when they are being daft lol

On samsung s22 plus you have to go on camera ..more and then settings and click on single take. You will have a very clear and bright picture. I do recomand taking on a sunset for best photo between the leaves of the autumn next to a forest.

Before editing…Before editing…

Think of different ways to shoot a photo. Here the trees and viewpoint are offset to one side to give a pleasing symmetry. The snap was taken in portrait to accentuate the height and shape of trees. The snap could be further enhanced afterwards by using an app on the phone or computer such as Adobe Lightroom. The stray branch and leaf in the foreground could be removed and the colour saturation boosted a small amount.

Even the best photographers edit and crop afterwards. 👍

I took this photo of the moon and it was simply zoomed in, no adjustments or anything. Just pure zoom

All about using the rule of thirds, you can activate it easily in the settings within the camera app. Then make sure your subject is within the crosses and you’ll get all the likes and up your insta game!

Set the phone on a steady surface when there isn't much light. This will allow the lense to remain open longer and make a clearer picture.

Always check the white balance manually because the automatic settings often give poor results.

When capturing buildings with people in front, make sure that you use the grid. Place the people on the 5 & 8 part of the grid and the building needs to be inside the grid.
