Scam call from 020 **** **** claiming to be from Three, offering a discount on my bill.

Fledgling

A woman with an Indian accent called, asking for more details. I became suspicious and told her she couldn’t be from Three, since she would already have that information. She then hung up.

I’m certain that Three has official ways of making special offers to their customers, such as leaving a message when they log in.

These calls are most likely scams.

Hello there.

Yeah, that seems like a scam for sure. The number also isn't one of Three's. I'm glad you noticed it before sharing any details.

Pete.

The same happened to me yesterday. I wasn't immediately suspcious but I was unhappy about the call, it came at a bad time and I was in no mood to talk. However I did give out my email address, she asked for it so she could email the offer for me to agree to it. Shortly afterwards I hung up, I wasn't very pleasant on the call to be honest. Shortly afterwards they rang back but I didn't answer. When I checked my inbox there was no email, there still isn't. By then I was suspicious and used your chat function, which was quite helpful in confirming that it wasn't genuine. It's possible that because I wasn't friendly to them they've realised that I hadn't been taken in, but I did give them my email address. Can they do any damage with just that? To confirm no email sent so of course I haven't clicked on anything I shouldn't have.

Glad to hear that you spotted the scam @MA2.

Just to add to what Pete was saying, here's a link to our fraud to watch out for page. There's more info about some of the common scams, and info on how to report them.

Thanks,
Jonathan
