Signal boosting in a low coverage area

Aidan1150
Fledgling

Good afternoon all.

I live in a very rural area and have almost zero cellular signal even outside my house.  I work from home and calling over wi-fi can be problematic too as it often says on my phone that it needs to be registered on a network in order to be able to call over wi-fi.  I very often have to resort to calling over WhatsApp.

Ideally, I'd like an external antenna to capture what cellular signal is available, boost that signal and bring it inside to another little antenna so that I can have signal indoors and can make calls 'as normal'.  My question is, what is the best system I can buy, at a reasonable price, that would be compatible with Three?

Hi @Aidan1150,

Sorry to hear that the coverage isn't as good as we'd like it to be in your area. We don't directly supply any product like you've described, so I can't give any official recommendation on antennas.

That's really strange that you're unable to use Wi-Fi calling consistently, as it should work with absolutely no mobile signal though, as long as you have a stable Wi-Fi connection.

If you turn on flight/airplane mode when at home do your Wi-Fi calls start kicking in more consistently? I've seen issues in the past where a weak mobile signal has prevented Wi-Fi calling from taking over, but the signal isn't quite strong enough to support the call. Let me know if this suggestion helps.

Thanks,
Jonathan
