WiFi Calling on Work Network

bakejennett
Fledgling

I've had issues with WiFi calling from my work network since January this year, when I converted to an E-SIM.

I'm an Infrastructure Engineer there, so in my downtime I've researched this issue - found other users with the same issue on the Three network and done my best to investigate all the parts of our work network before reaching out.

From what I can gather, the traffic is allowed and past our firewall pair to the WAN - and I came across an article advising that the public IP's of our network may not be whitelisted on Three's end to allow Wi-Fi calling.

When I'm at home, Wi-Fi calling is no issue.

Please can a representative from Three get in touch privately to assist with double checking this and/or advise what to further check on my end to troubleshoot.

All the Best

Jake

Hello there.

Welcome to Three Community.

Wifi calling issues are not ideal, especially if you're unable to get a strong connection to the cellular network. As Community is a space for other Three users to converse, you might find advice from other Three users or within other Topics.

While the Moderators here can provide some basic support and advice, we're not a technical team, our knowledge on the issue will be limited.

In the past I've seen issues with Wifi calling not working at certain work places due to how the network at the workplace operates. The two examples that come to mind are if the network routes their traffic outside of the UK. Since Wifi calling is a geo restricted feature, it doesn't work in those cases. The other example is if your company uses a VPN for users connected to their Wifi network, it can impact the Wifi calling feature. I'm not sure if either of these are applicable to you, but worth considering.

Pete.

Thanks Pete, appreciate the answer and clarity.

We don’t have a VPN out for WAN and our network only really has routes for the UK 😞

what a bugger!

Is it a small company? Do you know which provider they use to provide internet access? Do you know what your public facing IP address is when connected to the work Wifi? If you could check and confirm which external IP address is provided to you when connect, I can see if there's anyone on our IT side that can check if there's any known issues with that IP or range of IPs.
