Scam warning

Eliza24
Fledgling

Hello everyone, so on Friday I have received a call from

020 8070 0540 and he told me that his name is Steven Thomson and the agent id is T456127

020 3932 2301 Claiming that he is from Three and he told me that my sim will be inactive in 2 days and they will send it to me by courier, I said that I will go in person and get it and he said that no because it’s verry busy and if I want to upgrade my plan with an iPhone, and I said yes.. and he was in my three account and by mistake I have gave him my sort code and account number and he changed it in my three account, I am not sure if this is a scam or a real person! He was asking me to confirm my email address and also I have received messages from three saying that they updated my direct debit, so I am not sure.. is my account in danger or this was an real agent? Thank you!

Hi @Eliza24,

I'm sorry to hear this. It doesn't sound like this is a genuine contact from Three as we don't call from 01 or 02 landline numbers like you've described. And I'm not clear on any reason why we would need to deactivate a customer's SIM like this. There's more info on what info you should gather, and who you should contact on our report a problem page

You can also double check with customer services if there was anyone from Three in touch, they'll be able to confirm from the account notes if we have called.

Thanks,
Jonathan
