my plan is up for renewal so I started looking and saw a iphone 16 128 gig storage, upgraded to 158 gig data/month unlimited phone and text plus some benefits. for my iphone 12 ive been paying a few pence over £38/month while this deal came in at a few pence over £34 so yippee im £4 better off. never missed or been late at paying A1 customer (as far as i know). so a credit check was done and I failed????? tried again the next day and experian failed me again (so I was told). I checked with my bank who almost apologetically said its not us you are an A1 customer if you need a loan from us it will not be declined. So I have checked with Experian Credit agency who said your rating is A1 we can advise you of what loans you can have but is the decline on your income because your a pensioner I bring in approximately £24,000, i dont think its that because i have no mortgage or loans except for the iphone 12 via three. so we are down to 2 possibilities. we down sized on Dec 6 2024 buying the bungalow right out or, or, or, 3 ors meaning this is the one we think it is, looking round it seems a very good deal and I didnt want any of the add on's? I dont want any ear plugs so its just the basic deal no fripperies it didnt go down well when I said no to insuance either!
can one of the '3' trained bods please confirm my thoughts

Hi @easilylost,
I'm sorry to hear you've been declined for an upgrade. We can't give financial advice here, and we wouldn't be able to access the results of any credit or affordability checks. I think speaking to your bank and Experian are good ideas, but that's disappointing to hear that they couldn't give any explanation.
As credit checks are automated processes, you are within your rights to enquire further and appeal. Check this page on credit checking, there's advice on how you can get in touch. Look for the section about Automated Decision Making.
Thanks,
Jonathan
