MC888 refuses to power on.

Hi all. I’ve had my MC888 for approx 18 months, however yesterday it refused to power on. My brother has the same router, so we tested the power adapters - both mine and his power his router, and neither will power mine.

I’ve contacted Three customer services via Live Chat, and they’re struggling to understand my issue, as their fix suggestions all involve a working device.

I have tried holding the reset button with a pin but to no avail.

I don’t think they fully understand what I’m trying to say. At one point I was told to contact the manufacturer, with no further advice on how to actually do this. I Googled ZTE and, after browsing their Chinese-based zte.com.cn and their ztedevices.com/en sites with no luck on what on earth to do, I shall turn to you fine people!

Genuine folk wanting to help won’t be offended by this, so.... if your contribution is “go to the Three store (full stop, send)” or “call customer services" (full stop, send), kindly naff off to local Facebook community group and post your dross there 🙂

Thanks in advance.

Hello there.

It sounds like your 5G Hub has downloaded its last MB, sadly.

I'm unsure why you were advised to contact ZTE for advice, as your test with the extra power supply pretty much verifies that the issue is specifically with the Hub, no other testing can be done. Perhaps they didn't fully understand that as you suggested.

As the 5G Hubs are owned by Three, the process is for the team to replace them if they are unable to fix the issue. Since you've completed what they have asked, there's no reason they won't be able to do that if you get back in touch with the broadband team.

Pete.
