I'm on a 24m sim only contract but wish to update my handset (Galaxy s10) according to 3 live chat, I can't buy a phone outright and keep my current plan. Is that true? Seems strange

Hello, Fordy.
It depends on what you are looking to do. You can take a new contract with a mobile phone, and you can choose to pay for the device up front so that it doesn't have a monthly cost, however the plan you are on would need to be upgraded as part of the process, and would need to be a minimum of 12 months in most cases.
The alternative would be to purchase a device outright from a local Three store without a contract at all. This would leave your current plan as it is, and you'd just put your SIM card into the new phone.
Pete.
