Pictures have power, there’s no doubt about it. And with tech advancements, most of us are now carrying around incredible cameras in our pockets. But what makes the difference between a stunning portrait or an overexposed selfie? Between an accurate action shot and a just-missed-it blur?
We’d love to hear your tips and tricks for getting the best shot so post them in the comments below. You can also include the snaps you’re most proud of to show off your efforts - we’ll moderate as quick as we can to approve the pictures. When we’re done, we should have a handy how-to guide and bonus community photo album.
In exchange, and to celebrate the newest additions to the Google Pixel family, we’ll give a brand-new Google Pixel 7 to one lucky commenter. With powerful Pixel Camera features like Real Tone and Cinematic Blur, the Google Pixel 7 is a photography powerhouse and we can’t wait to see the beautiful images it can capture.
You’ll be automatically entered into our prize draw when you post a comment. The prize draw will close at 23:59 on 31 October 2022 and no comments will be counted after that. One winner will be randomly selected on 02 November 2022 from all eligible entries.
We’ll drop the winner a Private Message between 4 and 7 November and we’ll announce the winner by their username once they have accepted their prize, by updating this post. To ensure you receive notice of Private Messages, please verify your email address after registration. If you do not wish to enter this prize draw, do not comment on this thread. Full terms and conditions here.

I love taking pictures of my dog and other animals so I tend to use portrait mode which focuses on my dog and blurs out the background giving contrast and amazing pictures

Personally, for me, it's all about capturing the right mood / ambience for example, if 'm taking a shot of a famous and busy Italian tourist spot (Duomo Cathedral - photo 1), I'll use a wide angle and slightly long exposure to capture the breadth and size of the building, the bustle of the public and the calmness of the beautiful clouds. Alternatively, when walking the streets of the city of London at night, I firstly take a moment to soak up the stillness and once again use the wide angle to capture the size and granduer of St Pauls (Photo 2) and move my camera to capture the flicker of street light.

My basic way of taking pictures, I follow 2 main options; 1. Is to turn on your grid lines option. 2. Depending on what type of obstacles or the person your taking pictures of you should tap on your screen, Where the figure is shown before you capture it. That gains more depth and focus. This can used for any mobile or camera.
