Pictures have power, thereโ€™s no doubt about it. And with tech advancements, most of us are now carrying around incredible cameras in our pockets. But what makes the difference between a stunning portrait or an overexposed selfie? Between an accurate action shot and a just-missed-it blur?

Weโ€™d love to hear your tips and tricks for getting the best shot so post them in the comments below. You can also include the snaps youโ€™re most proud of to show off your efforts - weโ€™ll moderate as quick as we can to approve the pictures. When weโ€™re done, we should have a handy how-to guide and bonus community photo album.

In exchange, and to celebrate the newest additions to the Google Pixel family, weโ€™ll give a brand-new Google Pixel 7 to one lucky commenter. With powerful Pixel Camera features like Real Tone and Cinematic Blur, the Google Pixel 7 is a photography powerhouse and we canโ€™t wait to see the beautiful images it can capture.

**Prize draw now closed**

Youโ€™ll be automatically entered into our prize draw when you post a comment. The prize draw will close at 23:59 on 31 October 2022 and no comments will be counted after that. One winner will be randomly selected on 02 November 2022 from all eligible entries.

Weโ€™ll drop the winner a Private Message between 4 and 7 November and weโ€™ll announce the winner by their username once they have accepted their prize, by updating this post. To ensure you receive notice of Private Messages, please verify your email address after registration. If you do not wish to enter this prize draw, do not comment on this thread

โ€œLIGHTINGโ€ - The single most important thing to create a perfect picture. Standing in between the subject and (your back to the) light source, creates vibrant colours and clarity in each shot.

If your phone has a Portrait mode, use it when photographing people as it blurs the background and sharpens the person, just like a professional photographer!

For selfies, I usually reverse the camera and use the timer. I always face the direction of the light as well.

For nature shots I just use emotion. Don't know how else to describe it. For lighting I watch the sun and use whatever light it gives

I always use portrait mode when taking special pictures as it really captures at its best when you know the perfect angle. ๐Ÿฅฐ

Sometimes the easiest fix to get a sharp and clear picture is to clean your camera from an debris and grease that may have accumulated!

Keep you lens clean - I always carry a lens cloth for cleaning my glasses but it works wonders on you mobile phone lens too.

The secret to taking great pictures is opportunity. If you donโ€™t take the opportunity to snap away at the things you find pleasing to the eye, you will miss the opportunity to capture great memories and milestones in your life. Digital photography gives you benefits of capturing the moment. You can take as many as you want, and keep and share the best with friends and family, or as inspiration and memories to treasure. So take often and donโ€™t be afraid to delete the ones the donโ€™t come up to scratch. You will find the more you take the better you get at capturing that perfect photograph.

When trying to take wildlife photos, like trying to take photos of the rascally little squirrels, leave some food like nuts out, be quiet and patient.  When the cheeky little devils think they are alone they will come out of hiding to see what treats you have left and you can get some awesome shots of them hanging out of the trees or nibbling on the treats you left out for them.  Always works for me ๐Ÿคฉ love my squirrels and with the pixel 7 it will even remove things it thinks do not belong in the shot.  Winner winner chicken dinner ๐Ÿคช Belinda

If you are trying to capture wildlife shots like the elusive squirrel ๐Ÿฟ๏ธ photo, put out some nuts, be quiet and patient and the cheeky little devils will pop out of the tree once they think there is no one there x

If the photo is taken without using portrait mode use the portrait blur option which intelligently blurs the background as if the photo is taken in portrait mode.
