I have a sim only phone deal and a 4g wireless router for internet. When I signed up I was told I couldn't get broadband but the phone would work fine. The phone coverage where I live is not good. I can't receive or make mobile phone calls consistently and sometimes messages also fail to send. I am able to send messages and make calls using apps like whatsapp which uses data but it is frustrating I am paying for a phone service which does not work. My work mobile which is on O2 works fine. I see that 3 have also joined the vodaphone network, does this work automatically or is there anything to do on the phone settings to enable this? Any help to improve my phone reception would be appreciated.

I'm sorry to hear you've been experiencing reduced coverage with your mobile service.
Has this been the case since your plan started? Also, does our Coverage and Network Status checker indicate any known issues in your area?
With the merger and sharing of the network, this is gradually being rolled out across different sites. We anticipate improvements to both signal and capacity, meaning stronger signal and faster speeds.
We can't give timescales for any particular areas, but you won't have to do anything. Your phone and SIM should pick up which signal is best in the area, and your provider name will stay the same on your device.
