Number in Iphone not able to change after porting

Nbradley1974

I'm trying to change my number in my iPhone after porting my old number to Three. However it will not let me save it and has the original sim number saved.

I have turned off imessage and facetime and re-started many times.  I have even tried putting sim in old phone and the correct number shows up in that one, and changed and saved it, but as soon as I put it in the new phone it reverts back to the mobile number that the SIM came with.

Can anyone help me on what I need to do to get this changed.

Hello.

I'm not sure if it's the same issue you're having, but another user mentioned something similar, and a solution was posted that resolved his issue. It might be worth checking that out.

Switch off iMessage and FaceTime. Goto the number and change remembering to put it in the format +44 7*** ****** then press save. It should hold. Then you can toggle iMessage and FaceTime on again.

I have already tried this as a fix but didn't work either.  The reset network option seems to have work as suggested above.  Thank you for your help

Does this reset option delete everything on your phone? I’m having the same problem and nothing has worked but sceptical to reset as I don’t want my phone to be wiped. Thank you!

Hi @Liz3,

Resetting the Network settings isn't quite as drastic as a factory reset, so you won't lose any saved contacts, apps, downloads etc. It does delete your saved Wi-Fi networks and passwords though, but hopefully that's just a minor inconvenience for you.

Thanks,
Jonathan

It's also sa bying that the number i have ported must have a SIM associated to be used for message and facetime

Go into your Apple ID and delete the old number.
