Pixel 10 5g connection issues

I've just upgraded from a pixel 8 to a pixel 10 as the deal Google offered me was too good to turn down. I previously didn't have any 5g coverage in the pixel 8 no matter where in the country I was (my wife's and friends phone would have 5g but not mine for example), I also asked for a new SIM in the last year to see if that was the issue after having had a SIM for a while and wondering if it was 'too old' for 5g but no luck.

Tldr - pixel 10 not connecting to 5g in areas where friends phones are doing (on different networks), is there something I can check or change in the handset? Or elsewhere ?

Hello there.

That's strange. If you're in a 5G area, your phone should be able to connect to 5G automatically. 5G enabled is the default network configuration out of the box. One way you could test things is next time you're in an area where you're not getting 5G, and a friend on another network is, ask to swap SIMs. If the Three line is still not getting 5G, it could be the area isn't set up for it yet, but you can confirm that on the coverage checker. If the 5G does show up on the Three line, and your friends SIM no longer gets 5G in your phone, it could indicate an issue with the phone software or hardware.

Pete.
