Billing for sharing contact details via text

Natty211
Fledgling

Hi.

if I share a contact number/details with another person via text. Is this a text message? Or a ‘usage message’ charged at £0.65?

I’ve a couple of instances where I’ve shred contacts with my brother (don’t know who his mobile is with, and he’s on Android) and been charged 65p to do so. Is this right?

thanks

Hi @Natty211,

Hope you're doing well! If you're sharing via a contact card, this would send as a MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) . This means it would charge at the standard rate of 65p per message.

I'd recommend using WhatsApp for this in future, as it has the same built in feature and of course will be free of charge.

iPhone to iPhone over iMessage would be a free message too. Sending to Android over normal text will be chargeable however.

Thanks,
