Did you mean:

Final bill when leaving

Damianb
Fledgling

Hi guys

I'm in a very similar situation so if you could help give me clarity that would be fantastic as the live chat operators simply didn't understand what I was saying. I've decided to leave 3. My latest bill is for £51 and "covers" up to 23/10. When I enquired about leaving, and generated my PAC I was told the early termination of 301 would be added to the 51. The point I was making with the live chat operators was that this would mean I am being charged twice for this coming month. My contract doesn't end until mid June. They simply couldn't understand and kept telling me my early termination figure was 301 and would be added to the 51.

I'm adamant that means I will be charged twice for the period upto 23/10/24 but they simply didn't get it. Nor did they explain the process of how I would receive my final bill.

Do I let my DD of the £51 go through, and then will I receive an accurate final bill somehow? I know these phone companies are ruthless and will no doubt go straight for my credit file if I don't pay. I'm not refusing to pay at all and appreciate it's a very early termination, I just want it to be accurate.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello, Damian.

The early termination fee is calculated as of the next billing date. Each time a bill is generated, the amount that would be advised to you would come down. Since your bill was generated, your fee would have been calculated from 23/10/24 to xx/06/25.

The fee can vary slightly though. For example, if you were not to use your PAC until after 23/10, you'd have another bill date pass, and the amount charged would need to take that into account. The system will do this automatically and it will work it out based on the last date your current charge/payment covers you up until.

Pete.

Thank you for the response Pete, it's very much appreciated. The guys on live chat just don't understand. They were telling me that the early termination fee of £301 was for 8 months and 23 days. I pay £35.60 per month. So I worked it out as follows:

24/10-23/11 £35.60

24/11-23/12 £35.60

24/12-23/1 £35.60

24/1-23/2 £35.60

24/2-23/3 £35.60

24/3-23/4 £35.60

24/4-23/5 £35.60

24/5-17/6 £27 (ISH)

This equates to about £276. That would be all outstanding charges from the end of my most recent bill which covers upto 23/10.

My most recent bill is £51.54 (there's some out of allowance charges which are correct).

If I pay this bill, and the early termination fee of 301 (353 in total), I'm paying more. The live chat operator said the termination fee was for 8.5 months but didn't understand that I'd have essentially paid for a month of that with this most recent bill. Even if we assume the £51 recent bill is paid, and exclude it, the termination fee is still nearly £30 more than I think it should be.

I know I've got a big bill, and I'm happy to pay it, I just want to make sure it's correct. I hope the above shows my workings out, and apologies if I've not understood your solution. Will they actually send me a final bill as my 3 app access has been removed?

Thanks again for your time, and looking at it.
