Porting number help

Apples
Fledgling

I ordered a SIM card and it’s currently in the post. I scheduled my old number to be transferred over this new SIM card on Monday, but I got an update from the post saying I won’t receive this SIM card till Friday and I’m worried it will be transferred early and I won’t have any service on my old SIM card.

Will my number still transfer on Monday, as my new SIM card hasn’t been activated yet?

Hi @Apples,

We never heard back from you. How did this go, did you receive the SIM on time, and was your port in okay?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi there @Apples,

You should be able to use your previous SIM until the transfer is completed, as you need to activate the Three SIM in your device as part of porting in.

Have you had service during the time you've waited for the transfer?

Thanks,
Michael

It's fairly likely that you may be without service for a few days, unless you can somehow cancel the port at this late stage, but I think from memory that in the timeframe you're talking about that isn't going to be possible.

as @Anonymous said, if the porting has been scheduled it will go ahead regardless of whether you have received the sim.
I was just wondering if Three's contact center could potentially forwards your call to another PAYG sim ( e.g. you could get one from a shop) but I'm wondering how are you going to pass the checks because of 2FA(SMS token from Three)... good luck
