I have come to Australia from the UK and I can't find out if my plan is a advanced plan ,allowing me to use my allowance here

I hope you're enjoying your time in Australia. 🙂
Most customers are on Advanced plans, but if there's any doubt you can receive texts on all plans for free when roaming. So if you log into My3 from there using Wi-Fi for instance you should be able to receive the security text without incurring a charge.
Then on your My3 account you should be able to view the name of your plan.
