genuine offer or a scam?

Are Three offering free phones to customers who have 3g phones that will not work after 3g is switched off?
There is an email received saying that this is the case.

We're taking steps to help make sure customers with older devices are given notice and support with the 3g switch offs. I could definitely see scammers seeing this situation as an opportunity though. My understanding is that we're offering upgrades rather than completely new phones to affected customers.

If you're not sure if a communication in genuine, then customer services can check your account to be certain it came from us.

I'd also be happy to take a closer look, if you can share the info that was emailed to you? Just make sure to remove any personal/private info if you post this to the community.
