How to connect Outdoor 5G router to a network switch

Have a new 5G outdoor router. Eero nodes incredible - 300mpbs :-)) Very close to the cellsite so have great coverage anyway. Want to get rid of BT altogether with 5G router - tried connecting to network switch to connect data ports throughout the house but no go?
Any idea what type of equipment I should be using? How to set up?

Hi Pete, 3 Outdoor router - connected to 3 supplied POE, then connecting from 3 POE into a network switch.
So replacing the cable from the BT router that goes into the switch with cable from the 3 POE into the switch.

Hi Simon,

We don't supply or test network switches, so we can't guarantee these will work, but I have done a little digging to see if we can help further.

If I've followed correctly, you're not using the EERO device we supplied with your outdoor router? A colleague has confirmed they personally use a switch with no issues with this setup:

Outdoor router > PoE > EERO mesh router > Network switch with cat 5e or 6 Ethernet to the Network Switch. Unless I've misunderstood, can you try plugging your PoE into the supplied Eero, and using its spare ethernet port to connect the switch?

Please let me know if this helps.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Thanks JonathanB - I did not try this set-up going from the Eero's to the network switch. Maybe next time. The Eeros worked really well - great kit.

But unfortunately the 5G signal (or router?) was not stable enough and we keep losing service which is really frustrating as we are so close to the new 5G tower (80m) with direct line of site and we had great speeds and service when it was on. I have perfect signal on my phone all the time.
I suspect the 5G data spectrum is still bedding in / being tuned / optimised etc as it's different from the phone spectrum apparently.
Having an "auto reconnect" router would make a massive difference - is there such a thing I can buy?
We'll try again in maybe 6 months or so - my work means I must have a stable / solid signal.
Certainly hope we can get there in the near future.
Happy to be a test household if your teams need one - can't wait to switch off BT forever :-))

Hello there.

Welcome to the Three Community.

Can you detail the set up configuration you're using, and what's happening when you try?

Pete.
