Unbranded router and 3 sim

Wondering if a zyxel nr5103e unbranded bought from a zyxel outlet would still get unwanted firmware forced in when using a three sim .

I have just returned a zte mc801a because the firmware  B12 & B15 forced through made it continuously drop the Internet.

I have the zyxel now its in bridge /passthrough and its rock solid .

I'm thinking of buying my own and putting a three or smarty sim in  .

I'm not sure what the E stands for, maybe Enhanced or Exciting or Effervescent... take your pick. I haven't come across a CA version but it looks like there are some new Zyxel 5G routers coming out for service providers. Although it says the 5103E is coming soon...Hmm.

The E is Europe/uk destination. CA is Canada destined ones ..there was a batch of CA ones on ebay £120 each  ive bought one will see how that performs when it arrives . I'm 7days into the 21 day shipping.

From what I have read, the Zyxel NR5103E router is a white label product only sold to service providers and not available to consumers. EE also use the same router.

I assumed the E denoted Europe .CA was usa/Canada .other areas have different letters at the end .

Hey, Grabo1530.

The firmware update process the router follows is pre determined by the existing firmware that's on the device. The Three branded Hubs have a firmware that's adjusted to take updates that are approved by Three.

The best people to ask about the firmware upgrade process the non branded hubs follow would be Zyxel. They should be able to advise whether or not their software configuration is set up to seek out the software for the network of the inserted SIM card, or if it will always default to the stock firmware released by themselves.

Pete.
