I couldn't agree more. As each year passes we're seeing manufacturers get closer and closer to producing phones that can take pictures that look like they were taken on an actual camera, and it all fits in your pocket!
If you're running out of space on your phone for images and videos, it might be worth looking at an online storage solution. I use Google Photos my self, and have thousands of pictures stored that I can access across all my devices.
Which phone manufacturer do you currently use? Did you buy your phone because of the camera that it has?
