ive got a sony XZ smart phone and a Doro 6520 flip phone. the doro is much better as its smaller and fits in the pocket better lol. might not be a smart phone but i dont use them for internet anyway. for me its for texting and calls only nothing else.
The sony i only use cause of the great camera on it. and i can put an app on it to track where my cat is which i cant do on the doro.
Few years ago it was about having the smallest phone u could get. now thier getting a lot bigger again and not lasting as long as the battery dies a lot faster on smart phones. my doro the cover comes off so i can repalce the battery when it dies so dont have to keep buying new phones every few years like with smart phones with a sealed case so u cant change the battery.
Smart phones r designed to drain the battery as fast as possible with must have apps and the battery can only be recharged a set number of times before u have to buy a new phone. the old phone no probs just take off the cover and replace the battery. no apps to kill the phone.
my sont i have to recharge every day even though im not running any apps. the doro lasts about 2 weeks beteen charges.
My old sony ericson T220 lasted me about 10 years with 2 battery replacements. it still works now but cant get any networks to work with it as its 2G and 2G network no longer works. That was on 02 nad my work phone as i was a taxi driver. 02 decided to shut down the 2G network and blocked my sim right after i put £30 topup on it so lost that topup. they sent me a new simcard with the credit on it but it wouldnt work in the phone and 02 refused to send me a new 2G simcard or refund the credit. it was buy a new phone or get lost. so switched to 3 instead. but had to buy a new phone as 3 didnt do 2G either only 3G. ut looks like i might have to replace my doro now as thats 3G only and 3 is closing down its 3G network.
To me all the networks r bullying customers to keep buying new phones to work on the new networks.
