Bundysplayzone
Fledgling

So as the title say i have a Zyxel NR5103E router FW: V1.00(ACBJ.0)b15 and it wont port forward no matter what i do ive see many many post of the same issue and plenty of sound advice but its not working for me ive changed from auto apn to manual 3internet ipv4 only,In Network Settings-->Home Networking-->Lan Setup i have disabled lan ipv6 mode, ive added the ports manually in NAT,added execptions to firewall tryed add the i.p to the dmz and nothing works i spent an hour on the phone to one of the "techs" who claim that they do not block ports nor do they have the tool's or ablities to block ports or set me to a static ip nor can they to anyone.

so please if theres a post/suggestion/idea ive missed on here or anywhere i would more than welcome any help/advice

many thank in advance

Hi @Bundysplayzone,

Sorry to hear you've been running into these issues. I think IPv6 may cause the issue. Sorry if you've already covered this but here's a couple of places you can check in the settings to ensure you've fully moved to IPv4 only:

  • Network Settings > Broadband > Broadband > Modify #1
    • Set IPv4/IPv6 Mode to IPv4 only#
  • Network Settings > Home Networking > Lan Setup
    • Set LAN IPv6 Mode Setup to disable

And I think you may already covered this but I believe when setting the manual APN profile for 3internet there's a field for PDP type which is set to IPv4 only too.

Make sure to reboot after the changes too to ensure they have taken effect.

Failing this, although the Tech team don't provide support with port forwarding, I'm aware they can set up an IPv4 only APN from our end, so it may be worth letting them know that you're encountering issues with your network set up as a result of IPv6 and asking them to swap to the IPv4 APN profile for your line.

Hope this helps, I'll also flag up feedback that customers would like support with port forwarding, as I appreciate there's been a few posts about this, and the solutions seem to be hit and miss.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi there thanks for getting back to me l,I have run through all thoes steps Tryed things like hamachi/zerotier/radmin server/open vpn ive tryed tunnling ive tryed pinholing/reverse and nothing works ive contacted customer support who connected me to a "technition" who point blank refused and claimed they are not able todo that as they dont have the tools/access and knowledge todo that and its like well how did you build the network without the ability to open ports and set ip adresses and ranges?but all i can say there is typical 3 mentality we dont care give us your money..

Hi @Bundysplayzone

I think what @JonathanB  is saying about ipv4, is that support can force your apn to be provided with an ipv4 instead of an ipv6. Not a fixed ipv4, but any free ipv4 within the pool of threes ipv4s. So may you can go back to support and ask to change your 3internet apn settings to "ipv4 only"

Could be the Zyxel firmware is not up to date? I really don't know how Three ships these devices and if they are strict with putting a determined firmware version...

If nothing works, could you claim you device is not "fit for purpose" as it is malfunctioning, and ask for a replacement?

hi there thank you too for reading/replying to this i understand thats what he ment and what i repeatedly asked for when i was on the phone to 3 and was told thats not possible and then having the we cant do ports repeated ok me witch ok w.e that not what i was asking you to do thats just part of the situation, my comment about the ports/ips/ranges was more my general reaction to been told that they dont have the capacity to mess with ports and ips like how did your own hardware get configged if you cant do that lol
