Call divert and Line busy

Hi all i am an OAP and not tech savvy so any advice appreciated. I have used 03 pay as you go on a  non smart phone mobile ( Doro 5860 ) for several years without any problems but recently this has changed. When making a call i get  a " conditional divert " message and the call goes through OR a " line busy " message and i know that the numbers being called are not busy. !  My phone works with G4 but i note that when the conditional divert shows then the signal bars change to G3. ? My phone is G4 enabled.

PS : I hope Network is the best place to post this but if the forum moderators feel otherwise then please move it.

Hi @mick2,

Sorry to hear you've been having trouble with calls lately. So the "conditional divert" is a bit of a red herring. As @Paddiewack says that just means you have Voicemail, or another divert on. The message is telling you that on the "condition" that someone rings you whilst you're still on the call you're making, the caller will be diverted.

The 5860 should be able to make 4G calls according to my info, but you may not have the feature switched on. How to ensure your phone is ready for the 3G switch off explains a bit more about relevant settings you should look for, but Doro tend to use very different software, so I've had an extra look into this for you.

According to the user guide you should look follow these steps:

Menu > Settings > Connections > VoLTE > Ensure VoLTE is switched on.

It's also worth checking Menu > Settings > Software Update > Check for Software Update. This should help ensure you've got all the latest settings.

PS - Yeah Network is exactly where I'd put a query like this too.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Many thanks guys as your replies and advice have now helped me to solve the problem. 😊 Just a final thought i do not have or need a smart phone or any data but note that Three do not do any unlimited calls and texts only deals. ? I wonder if there are other seniors like myself who would " upgrade " from pay as you go if the above was available. ?

Unless you’ve set it otherwise the “conditional divert” usually refers to your voicemail (answerphone) whereby if someone is calling you and you don’t answer, the call will be transferred to voicemail after a set period (up to 30 seconds) that’s the condition and I know that some basic phones show that message when the call goes “through”. By G4 I assume you mean 4G likewise G3= 3G and there are several possible reasons for you getting your message. If you’re calling a number where the person is starting a call but not connected you’ll get a line busy message and if the base station to which your phone is connected to has a lot of users at that particular time then again you’re likely to get an on screen message. Likewise 3G is an older technology which is being discontinued so would again explain the on screen message. I may have missed out other possible situations but that is a broad overview which I hope helps you.
