Hi, for the last couple of weeks I have been unable to make or receive phone calls. I can send and receive texts and use my mobile data, so I don't understand what the problem is. I have restarted my phone and removed/replaced the sim multiple times. Could anyone help please?

Hi jr.........When 3 turned off their 3G network, they also ended calling (both ways) for customers with 4G devices but the device HAS to be 4g-VoLTE enabled/compatible. If its not then basically you are out of options other than to change your mobile provider or get a new device that is 4G-VoLTE capable. Three will tell you that your device is not 4G-VoLTE compatible.....they will check their compatible phone list . You can check for yourself by using a tool on 3's link for "Making sure that you are ready for the 3G switch off" I think it was posted earlier in this thread by a helpful moderator. Good luck, but I would advise you to do either of the options I mentioned above and save yourself a lot of headaches. Coincidently, Three seem to be very happy to transfer you to sales to buy a new phone when you chat with them about this problem of their creation.

Three says my phone should be compatible with volte but it didn't work after 3g shutdown. Their information about which phones are compatible may not be entirely reliable.

I've chatted with tech team and customer service multiple times, not once did they mention sales team. Today, for the 2nd time, they suggested I leave Three without paying cancellation charges. I'd rather they identify, take ownership of the problem and offer a solution, not get rid of me.

Me too, in Cheltenham, and I have had similar problems for a month now. Sometimes my phone tells me by text that I missed a call but my phone hasn't made any indication that someone was calling. I have a dual-sim Galaxy Note 8 and I tried swapping the sims over but the '3' sim wouldn't work in the #2 slot so that's not the problem.
I don't know if it is relevant but my signal isn't as good since the torrential rain two weeks ago and my phone tells me I'm not connected to the usual mast.

"Me too, in Cheltenham, and I have had similar problems for a month now."
Now fixed. I had completely not understood that I had to enable VoLTE in order to use voice over LTE. Once I had enabled in on my Note 8 I can now make and receive calls. Sadly, it seems that not all Note 4 phones can do VoLTE so, although mine can receive LTE it is one of the one that can't use VoLTE.

Why has Three not simply stated that if your phone doesn't have volte option, you need a new one or choose another provider!????

Nowhere in that guide states that if your phone doesn't have that volte option, you have to replace the phone. It is sneaky, unclear and deceiving.
Some customers are on sim only contracts with handsets purchased elsewhere. They are still loyal Three customers. Is Three going to be supplying volte compatible phones to the affected customers or offering better deals to compensate for this serious mess Three have caused??

I hope those who can will fight this fight & win compensation.
Sadly, I needed a working phone & have no dual sim option, so I had to switch providers.
I believe our government is to blame for this. They persuaded Three to transfer customers to 4g so gov emergency alerts would work.
Most of us don't want emergency alerts anyway. We survived 2 world wars without phones, internet or tv. There's no shortage of ways to access information nowadays. It would be nice if gov left well enough alone.
