I am struggling to get my Xbox to work on Xbox live. Doing some googling it seems that the MTU is too low, it is 1360 and should be about 1385 to be able to work properly. I have rung three who seem to have no knowledge of what an MTU is and have sent me to the ombudsman. I have logged into the router (H122-373) and increased the MTU manually however it will not pull through onto my XBOX. I have put it in the DMZ, enabled UPNP and generally faffed with it as much as i can but the MTU on the XBOX does not change. I am assuming this is what is being sent from three and so it is something to be changed at three's end...
Does anyone else have any experience of this, or have any issues with XBOX live and home broadband 5g? or can they get it to work, cheers

Hi Jonathan
Im experiencing the exact same problem. When attempting to play online games and the demand increases, such as big lobby games, the console will freeze and either dashboard or switch off. When checking my connection there is an MTU problem. I’m playing on a brand new xbox series X.
Thanks,
Jordan

Hey @jordanmilly77,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I'm concerned you're more likely to have a hardware/software issue on the Xbox itself.
Getting hit to dashboard isn't super uncommon (depending on how often it happens) but I've never heard of an Xbox switching itself off unless it's overheating, or there's an electrical problem.
Even if you lost all Internet connection, most games shouldn't shutdown. Although they may do this if it's not your "home Xbox" as Xbox Live is needed to ensure you own the content. That issue is usually pretty obvious though as you get a popup mentioning about you need to be online to play this game.
Last I checked we're not aware of a widespread issue with using Xbox live over Three Broadband, but I can certainly check in about this again.
Are you able to share screenshots or quote the MTU error message so I can share this with my contacts in the Tech Team?
Thanks,
Jonathan

Why in every reply can you not accept the issue is three. The mtu is set by three. Stop leading people on a merry go round for no reason. Nothing you suggest to anyone works. Complete joke you are. Accept the truth that the problem is three and only three.

Mines the exact same problem my upload and download speeds are terrible I’ve not long brought the 5G hub ZTE and it’s meant to run around 100mps apparently when mine barely goes past 30mps and it won’t stay at that for even longer then a couple seconds I’ve enabled UPNP and DMZ and even tried changing ports as my NAT type on my Xbox keeps saying strict , even with the Ethernet cable connected or wireless it does not help the hub itself I have full signal apparently and have it placed on the window sill as it advises and it is just useless for any kind of gaming what so ever

Hey @R1lowkey,
That sounds really frustrating. We'll do our best to help.
It doesn't sound like you're actually getting 5G speeds, is there any issues showing on our Network Status Checker? I'm wondering if the router is connecting to 4G, or perhaps to a mast that has an outage or maintenance going on.
I know you've mentioned the router is new, has this been an issue since day 1, or did it start more recently?
Let me know, and I'll check into the best next steps.
Thanks,
JonathanB
