The 3 sim should logon to 3's preferred network but sometimes it is necessary to manually select a network and I don't think it matters which network you select. If 3 does not have an agreement with that network the I don't expect your phone will work.
If you are going for more than a few days you may be better off with a local sim and you can buy these from Amazon UK.
