I'm wondering if anyone else here is experiencing issues with WiFi Calling when connected to the Eduroam WiFi network at University and Hospital sites in the UK? I am unable to make any outbound calls, nor receive any inbound calls. I have missed several important hospital calls, and emergency calls from relatives (including from a panic alarm button) because WiFi Calling isn't working.
I have tried all the recommended steps, such as resetting network settings, turning WiFi Calling on/off, trying it on Airplane Mode etc. None of this works.
However, it works absolutely fine on my EE/Lyca and Talkmobile eSIMs that I'm testing. Both EE and Three have zero cellular signal in the location where I'm based most days, but WiFi Calling is working flawlessly on EE. I'm still in contract with Three, and have been with Three for a long time so I don't really want to leave, but this is causing a lot of problems for me now. I spoke with support today who were not very helpful, just telling me to do what I've already tried.
I don't get any errors when trying to make a call, it just stays stuck on the calling screen until I press the end call button. No dial tone or anything.
I have already spoken with the University and they have confirmed they are not blocking any WiFi Calling, and in fact, they encourage the use of it because of the limited (and often no) signal at their sites.
WiFi Calling does seem to work ok at home, although it's very choppy... I keep getting reports of the person on the other end not being able to hear me (despite being on a 1Gb symmetric broadband connection with ~2ms latency).
I cannot say how long this has been going on for, as it has only become a problem for me since I started a new job recently (a few months ago) in a building which is a total cellular blackspot.
I'm on the 65.0 carrier update, on iOS 26.0.1 on an iPhone 14 Pro (although I had this issue prior to iOS 26 as well).
If I'm the only one experiencing this then I'll try pursuing this with support again and leave if I don't have any success, but wanted to gauge if there are others affected. None of my immediate colleagues are on Three so I haven't been able to ask them.

Hi @PeteG ,
Thanks for this. I can confirm I do have WiFi connected. I am here right now and unable to make or receive a call over it. Plus, it says 'WiFi Call' on the top left of my phone, so it seems to partially register.
Interestingly, it looks like SMS over WiFi is working, as I just received the OTP code from Three to login to this forum over WiFi (there's 0 cellular connection here). But calls are a no go.
I've just tested again - turning WiFi calling on/off, resetting network settings, trying airplane mode... no luck. Working absolutely fine on my EE and TalkMobile eSIMs, but not my main Three SIM.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @adz08,
Everything you've tried so far is great troubleshooting. It's difficult to say where the problem will actually lie but if you have or can find out the public IP ranges that this Eduroam network uses, our Service Desk may be able to look into this further.
Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi @JonathanB ,
Thanks for this. To be honest, I found my interaction with support pretty exhausting. I told them everything I tried, and they just suggested I try the exact same thing again and didn't seem interested in actually offering a solution beyond any basic troubleshooting.
As I'm now receiving a higher number of calls from the hospital with test results and appointments, I've had to come up with a workaround at extra cost. I've setup a call divert from my Three number to my Talkmobile number which only diverts when my Three number is unreachable. Because WiFi calling works on my Talkmobile SIM, this meant I didn't miss the 3 calls I was expecting today. But it's not ideal because I'm now paying for 2 SIMs because I'm stuck in a contract with Three.
I do have the IP ranges for the eduroam network, but I have no idea how to get in touch with an engineer that won't keep me on a chat for ages telling me to repeat all the things I've already tried with no success. Tbh despite being a customer for years, the current best solution I can come up with is to pay the early termination fee and move away.
Cheers!

Hi @adz08,
Sorry for the misunderstanding there. If it seems like the issue isn't account specific, I can share those IP ranges on your behalf and ask the Service Desk to look for a more general issue, so no need to speak to Tech team again for just now.
Thanks,
Jonathan

Hi @JonathanB ,
Just to confirm, I found a colleague to test (he's also on Three) and his phone also did not work on eduroam for calling, but SMS did. The list of IP ranges here are: https://help.it.ox.ac.uk/ip-addresses#collapse2202351
If we can't resolve it, do you know whether it's possible to waive the early termination fee? I'm willing to get it resolved first, but if we can't then I can't stick with Three. I have an interim solution with the call divert which is working but it's obviously not ideal paying for 2 SIM plans with 2 different networks just to receive calls.

Hello there.
Is it possible that your phone is not switching over to Wifi calling while in the area? This can sometimes happen when there's still a cellular connection. You could try forcing the phone to use wifi calling by turning on airplane mode, then once the phone connects to Wifi, test the call. If it still doesn't work, you know it's definitely an issue with the connection not getting through that network. If it does work, you know that the Wifi calling is fine, and that the just wasn't using it.
Pete.
