Didn’t pass credit check to upgrade

My pay monthly contract is about to expire and I didn’t pass a credit check to upgrade when im coming up to the end of a 3 year contract so what happens to my phone number and what should I do about renewing

Hi @antpanky,
Our current Three Your Way device plans involve a 0% APR loan to cover the cost of any hardware so we do need to complete credit and affordability checks for these. I'm sorry to hear you didn't pass this, but I'll send you a PM with info on how to appeal in case there's any possibility to overturn this decision.
In terms of your phone number this is safe, we'll only disconnect this if you give notice to cancel. If you don't take any action then your plan will rollover at the current rate, or you could discuss a SIM only plan with the renewals team to see if you can get a better plan for your needs, and either don't need a new phone or source one from a 3rd party retailer.

- So how can we upgrade now? Been with you 8 years. Two pay monthly lines. No adverse payment history, and my credit score is good (and significantly better than it was when I first took out contracts with you). One contract ended last year so i moved to sim only to keep costs down. But noow that handset (which os coming up to 3yrs old) no longer works. So logically, I called to upgrade today to a new device, and to my suprise failed the credit check? Its actually terrible. Especially as a long-standing customer. And now im locked in with 17months left on my sim only plan, and a non-working handset.

It’s terrible really, o2 do the same thing ( sepreate handset and pay monthly plan ) and there don’t credit check when upgrading, there use your past payment history. I imagine three losing lots of customers doing this.
