Keeping your Pay as You Go number active - is buying a top-up considered a Chargeable Activity?

Fledgling

Can you confirm whether just buying a top-up in the App (without making any phone call or sending any text message) every 180 days will keep my number active? On the website in the Pay As You Go support I found:

"How do I keep my Pay As You Go number active?

To keep your Pay As You Go number active, you must use it for at least one chargeable activity - like making use of existing top-up credit or Data Pack allowance, adding top-up credit, buying a new Data Pack, or making a telephone call, sending a text, or using the internet on Three’s mobile network - every 180 days.

What is a chargeable activity?

A chargeable activity is using any Three service for which a charge is made, like buying a top-up, Data Pack or Data Boost, or making a telephone call, sending a text or photo message, or using data on Three’s mobile network (i.e. not Wi-Fi) using existing top-up credit or Data Pack/Data Boost inclusive allowance."

However here on the community forum people say that you need to actually make a phone call or send a text message, and just buying a top-up is not considered a  chargeable activity.

What is the truth?

NO; you must make a chargeable event, like a call or SMS.

Hello, Izabela.

Yes, topping up is counted as a chargeable event on our current PAYG SIM cards. These terms differ slightly from the previously used terms on older PAYG SIM cards, where only calls, texts, or data usage would count.

Pete.
