Roaming in Europe

Hi, I was in Greece last week and bought a 7 week data plan, which I thought was unlimited as I have unlimited data. Now I’ve just started my interrailing trip and bought a 14 day pass, and now, day 2, I received a text saying I’ve used all of my allowance. I’m assuming that happened because of my last trip, as I barely used any so far, but shouldn't the allowance reset as I bought a new plan? Do I just stay with no data now for the rest of the month? Do I even get the money back for the plan I bought if it won’t be used? Thank you

Hello @letiialmeida2,

Thanks for reaching out, and welcome to the Three Community.

To clarify, was it a 7-day Go Roam pass that you had purchased? Any days left over from previous passes do carry over for future trips that take place in the same region, i.e. Go Roam in Europe.

However, while you may receive your call and text message allowance when roaming, a fair usage policy is in place for data usage, capped at 12GB during the billing period. This applies if you pay £2 per day, and also if you purchase a Go Roam pass to save over more days.

An alternative, if the fair usage limit is unsuitable, is to purchase a Data Passport.

This provides 24 hours of unlimited data for £5 per day and is available in 89 destinations worldwide (including Greece).

Please have a look at Three's Roaming page. You can enter your plan/location details here, and hopefully this also helps.

Thanks,
Michael

Thanks for your reply! I bought the 7 day pass and used all the dates. Then I bought a 14 day pass, but I got a message saying I’ve used all my allowance. So will I only be allowed to roam again after my next bill? And will the other 12 days left of my pass carry on to next month? Thank you!

Hi @letiialmeida2,

It sounds like you've run into the fair use policy of 12GB per billing month, are the messages you're receiving referring to this? You can still use data and roaming passes in the interim, but there is a surcharge of 0.3p/MB. This will reset when your new bill cycle starts and your allowances refresh.

If you've been unable to use data once hitting the fair use limit, check if you have a spend limit on your account, you can do this by logging into your account, or by getting in touch.

Thanks,
Jonathan
