Just had a scam call from an 020 number pretending to be Three, saying that as I'd been a customer for a few years they wanted to offer me a discount on my monthly bill. I was immediately suspicious as it wasn't from Three's usual number, didn't address me by my name (just called me Ma'am), and it was from an Indian-sounding call centre. The guy was quite persistent even when I said I thought it was a scam and it wasn't Three's number he was calling me from. He then offered to send me a verification text (???) to prove it was from Three. (How this would do so I have no idea, as he already had my mobile number so could simply send a fake text to it.) At this point I got bored with the whole thing, couldn't be bothered to string them along any further, and ended the call, blocked the number and reported it as spam. I looked up the number he was supposedly calling from and it was an innocent restaurant business based in London! Be careful out there - in my experience large businesses do not cold call their customers at all (they don't have the time or money to do so), and they wouldn't offer a loyalty discount in this manner. So any marketing type cold call from anyone is extremely suspect.
