Hi. I’ve been with three for 4 years now. I recently finished my contract with an iPhone14 and upgraded to the new iPhone16, I realised I preferred my old phone and gifted the 16 to my girlfriend. Can I keep using the same sim card I’ve had for the last 4 years in my iPhone14? I don’t want to incur any ‘out of contract’ charges. I ask this because I’ve lost the sim card they sent with the iPhone16, however my old SIM card I’ve had for years with the same number seems to be working fine.
thanks

Hello, Charlie.
A new SIM isn't usually provided with upgrades unless the SIM type is different on the new phone. It is possible for you to put your SIM into your older iPhone, and it won't change how you use the service. Your girlfriend will just use her SIM in the new phone.
As you have received a new SIM with the iPhone though, I'd recommend reaching out to the support team just in case your iPhone 16 order was not an upgrade, but a new line. It's just a precaution and hopefully the new SIM was just a pay as you go SIM, but it's best to make sure.
Pete.
